According to new reports, Jack Wilshere is expected to agree a three-year new deal with Arsenal worth in the region of £100,000-a-week.

Wilshere, who was left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Russian World Cup received a slightly improved offer from the Gunners which the England midfielder is believed on the verge of accepting.

Football Weeks sources understood Wilshere’s contract remains performance incentivised but he now have to complete fewer minutes and appearances in order to trigger the maximum weekly payment.

There’ve been several reports linking Wilshere with other clubs including Everton but Arsenal blogs understands the only concrete offer for the Englishman was from Serie A champions Juventus, who first registered their interest in him several years ago.

Wilshere had been frustrated by a lack of progress in talks but talks remains positive and an agreement is expected to reached in the coming days.

The midfielder began the season with former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger willing to listen to offers but made 38 appearances for the club, forcing his way back into the first-team picture initially in the Europa League but later domestically.

Wilshere was expected to earn a place in Southgate’s final 23-man squad for Russia but the England boss claimed he was disappointed by his form during the second half of the season and elected to take Fabian Delph instead.
